Bredhiku

Bredhiku is a mountainous area covered with pure forests of fir (Abietum albae). These forests of tertiary age represent a floristic and phytocenological phenomenon in the biodiversity of Sharr and Kosovo. The uniform (pure) fir reserve influenced the emergence of predominantly cosmopolitan (widespread) plant species that are characteristic of mesophilic fir habitats. Of the other woody species, the presence of the rare Macedonian fir (Abies horist-regis) stands out. Bredhiku is the habitat of brown bears, which have their winter dens in this area. Other species are: roe deer (Capreolus capreolus), wolf (Canis lupus), fox (Canis Vulpes), etc. Tracks of lynx (Lynx lynx) were also found.
