This reserve is characterized by special floristic, faunal, phytocenological and geomorphological values. Within the rich biodiversity of the flora, numerous endemic relict species and their rare phytocenoses stand out. Of the woody species, in addition to hemlock, ivy and hornbeam, there are: spruce (Abies alba), pine (Pinus peuce), wild willow (Salix caprea) and others. A special symbol of Oshllak is the local endemic species of the glacial age Achillea alexandri regis, where together with other endemic species of the Central Balkans Onobrychis scardica forms a specific community Achilleo alexandri regis – Onobrychis scardica. Of the many other endemic species that the Oshllak area is rich in, the following stand out: gray helianthem (Helianthemum canum), Sharr carnation (Dianthus scardicus), rock carnation (Dianthus integer), Albanian lily (Lilium albanicum), etc. The area is rich in many species of birds and mammals: grouse (Tetrao urogallus), European partridge (Alectoris graeca), hazel grouse (Tetrastes bonasia), wild goat (Rupicapra rupicapra), brown bear (Ursus arctos), etc.
