About The Platform
The KOSOVARURALTOURISM platform was developed by EC Ma Ndryshe in order to provide practical and orientation data for local and foreign tourists. Consequently, it aims and represents another effort of the EC to promote cultural and natural tourism in Kosovo as one of the main potential sources of economic development of the country. The idea for the creation of this platform has also originated from the commitments and research of the EC so far in the field of tourism which have proven the need for greater promotion of cultural and natural assets in the country. To illustrate, in a previous research in the field of tourism that EC has conducted in cooperation with the Regional Center of Cultural Heritage in Prizren for the question of what is most liked in Prizren, most foreign tourists and those from the regions of Kosovo respondents (27.4%) responded Cultural and Religious Monuments and 17% outdoor visits [1].

KOSOVARURALTOURISM has been developed with predefined methodology. In order to ensure the provision of accurate and credible information, the data were collected directly from the field, in which case about 200 locations were visited. For even greater security, the information collected was also verified by the responsible institutions. In addition to accuracy, the application of this methodology has also enabled direct contact and capacity building of the engaged team.
The platform provides information such as: location, location category, protection status, signage, infrastructure, usage; orientation to location via Google Map (Get Directions), longitude and latitude for each mapped point. The data of registered locations is divided into three main categories: Cultural Assets, Natural Assets and Services. Currently the platform contains data on locations of all communities in the Southern Region of Kosovo (municipalities of Prizren, Dragash, Malisheva, Suhareka, Rahovec and Mamusha) with a plan to cover the entire territory of Kosovo in the future.
Although the main purpose of the platform is to inform local and foreign visitors, its development should be seen as a contribution to education and protection of assets as well as fostering engagement of institutional commitment and the general public regarding the opportunities, potentials and the need for development and further promotion of tourism in Kosovo.
The Logo history: The KOSOVARURALTOURISM platform logo is unique for many reasons. Initially, its pattern presents authentic motifs since it is inspired by traditional carpets, clothes and accessories of Kosovo. In addition, it contains the letter K of Kosovo, the air, the land and the water as well as the Map of Kosovo symbolized in minimal style. Also, the color of the logo represents the nature and with the above elements it can be concluded that as such, the logo fully corresponds to the purpose and the content of the platform.
